Check if your International Roaming pack has been activated. If not activate now

If already active and still facing network issue while travelling abroad, please disable Wi-Fi on your handset and follow the below troubleshooting steps:

IOS

1. Settings > Mobile Data/Cellular Data > Data Roaming > Turn on Data Roaming

2. Change the Network mode to 2G/3G/4G, i.e. Turn off VOLTE Settings > Mobile Data/Cellular Data > Voice & Data > Turn off VOLTE 

3. Settings > Mobile Data/Cellular Data > SIM APPLICATIONS > Click on Roaming > Click on International Roaming & Click OK or ACCEPT on prompt

Note: Proceed with next step if “Roaming” option under SIM Applications menu is not available

4. If the handset doesn’t show any network symbol, please try to change the network selection mode from Manual to Automatic in Settings > Mobile Data > Network Selection > Turn off the AUTOMATIC toggle to turn on the Manual search Operators

5. If issue persists or for any assistance related to International Roaming, you can connect with our live chat agent

1. Settings > SIM & Mobile Networks > Advanced Settings > Data Roaming > Turn on Data Roaming/Select “Always”

2. Settings > SIM & Mobile Networks > Turn off VOLTE calls

3. Settings > SIM & Mobile Networks > Preferred network type > Turn ON 2G/3G/4G (Auto mode) or LTE ON

4. Tools > SIM toolkit/Vi menu/USIM) > Roaming > Select International Roaming and wait for prompt ‘Already On’ and please accept it. If this doesn't appear, repeat the same steps again *Select the International Roaming option from the SIM tool kit continuously till you get the prompt as “Already On".

Go to next step if “SIM toolkit/Vi menu/USIM” option under menu is not available

5. If the handset doesn’t show any network symbol, please try to change the network selection mode from Manual to Automatic in Settings > SIM & Mobile Networks > Mobile Networks > Choose network manually/Network Operators

No, you cannot activate an Easy+ International Roaming pack in advance.

YES, you can purchase an International Roaming Pack after reaching another country, through Vi app by connecting to a local Wi-Fi. It takes about 30 minutes for the pack to get activated after you have submitted the request.

However, it is advisable to purchase the International Roaming pack before you leave India. 

Please note: Future Dated Activation is not available.

NO. All our International Roaming packs are for fixed validity. These expire as soon as the validity is over. You do not need to deactivate the packs at all.

You will not be able to access IR services if your country is not included in the chosen IR pack. Currently there are only 29 countries covered under this IR pack. Please refer to T&C sheet.

To make voice calls from overseas, dial the number with the area code as you would do when in India. To call another country, dial + with the country code followed by the phone number. 

For E.g. to call someone in India while traveling abroad, just add India’s country code +91 as prefix and enter the number i.e. +9198110XXXXX

Yes, you can use the same handset & SIM in any foreign country. Only if you are using a very old handset model or a non-4G handset, which may not be compatible with the available networks in some of the countries, you may need to change your handset. Eg many countries have only 4G network, so your handset should be 4G compatible to be used in that country.

Yes. We have different packs to suit all kinds of trips – 1 day / 10 day packs for short trips and 14 day packs for longer travel. Choose the one that best suits your need.

No, any in-built data quota on your postpaid or prepaid plan is not valid for usage outside of India. For International Roaming, you need to buy separate International Roaming packs.

NO. Incoming SMS on International Roaming are not charged.

Your International Roaming service needs to be active when you are calling the above helpline numbers from your VIL number. No charges apply when you call these helpline numbers from your VIL number when abroad. You can also dial these numbers from a local phone abroad, call charges apply as per the country’s call rates.
